CYCLING:
Tuesday 9am: meets in front of Fisherman's Wharf and does a loop up the Rec Trail to Marina, then through the Fort Ord hills.
Saturday 7am (A) & 7:30am (B): groups meet alongside the Portola Plaza hotel and go
through Pebble Beach and back -- the classic Monterey Saturday
morning ride. VCM
Sunday 8am: ride meets at Portola Plaza in downtown Monterey (near the
Marriott, in front of the Portola Plaza hotel) and usually goes north
along the Rec Trail. VCM
SWIMMING:
CSUMB.
Check the times online @ www.csumb.edu (it changes when school is out) but generally
there are morning (6 or 6:30), midday (noon) and evening (4:30pm) public
swim periods. It's a 25 meter pool and it's outdoors.
Monterey Sports Center (http://www.monterey.org/en-us/departments/montereysportscenter.aspx): located in downtown Monterey is open to the public and
the pool is usually open all the time, something like 6am to 9pm. The Monterey Sports Center is a big gym with lots of equipment
besides the pool.
Patullo Swim Center: located in Seaside has some lap swimming
times, check it on the City of Seaside website (http://www.ci.seaside.ca.us/index.aspx?page=173).
Master's Swim Groups:
Seaside High School: (just show up M-F at 5am or so
and ask for Coach Cary, don't worry if it starts a few minutes late,
there are usually also weekend workouts, 6am on Saturday and 9am on
Sunday, check with Coach Cary, though),
Carmel High School (M-W-F 5:30
am and ask for Coach Ken)
Monterey Peninsula College: (although you
might have to sign up www.mpc.edu). The MPC masters group is probably the most
competitive,
Ocean Swims:
Friday Night Ocean Swim (FNOS) 5:45pm: meet at Del Monte Beach in
Monterey (at what we call "the working wharf").
Sunday 11am: meet at Lover's Pt. in Pacific Grove.
RUNNING:
Wednesday Night Track 5:45pm-7pm: meet at Monterey Peninsula College. MBM
Saturday 7:15am: meet at the bottom of Ocean Ave. in Carmel-varying distances and abilities. WNLR
Sunday 8:30am: meet at the Fishwife Restaurant at Asilomar in Pacific Grove. Approx. 7 mile run to Bird Rock in Pebble Beach & back.WNLR
